What is neck pain?

Neck pain, also called cervical spine pain, is a very common source of pain. Its estimated neck pain affects 45% of workers in the United States today.  Neck pain can be felt in the neck and into the shoulders. Some people experience the pain going upwards into the skull and can cause headaches. Others experience neck pain that radiates into the back and shoulders, sometimes down the arms into the fingers. Tingling and numbness into the shoulder, arms, hands and fingers could accompany neck pain. Neck pain can come from the intervertebral joints, disc, ligaments, muscles and nerve roots.
